The pigs in a hurry, the cats in a flurry…
Higgledy piggledy, POP!
(Tap knees, then clap on
‘pop’ & ‘mop’
Roly-poly hands last two
lines, then clap on ‘pop’)
What shall we do with the sleepy baby,
What shall we do with the sleepy baby,
What shall we do with the sleepy baby,
Early in the morning?
Roll him on the bed and tickle him all over,
Roll him on the bed and tickle him all over,
Roll him on the bed and tickle him all over,
Early in the morning.
(Pretend to be a sleepy baby/have
a cuddle…then have a tickle!)
Father and Mother and Uncle

Father and Mother and Uncle Tom
Got up on a pony and rode along.
Father fell off! Weeeeee!
And Mother fell off! Weeeeee!
But Uncle Tom rode on and on and on and on and on…!

I’m a little teapot short and stout.
Here’s my handle, here’s my
spout.
When I get the steam up, hear me shout,
Tip me up and pour me out!
(One arm makes a handle shape, one arm makes a spout
shape…and tip to one side to pour the tea out…you can even pretend to pour some
tea into a cup!)
Jack in the box jumps up like this.
He makes me laugh as he waggles his head.
I gently press him down again,
Saying, “Jack in the box, you must go to sleep.”
(Crouch down in your box
with one hand on your head for the lid, jump up on the word ‘up’ with arms out
to the side. Waggle your head and then gently press down on your head again
with your hand and pretend to go to sleep. Or gently press down on a very young
child’s head and lift them up with a bounce)
Up high..down low.
Up high.. down low.
Now we’re in the middle and we’re going….up (or down)

or down. Smaller children can be lifted up and down)
Up the tall white candlestick went little Mousy Brown.
He blew the candle out..(blow) and then he ran right down….weeeee!
(Pretend to make a little
mouse by wiggling your 2nd & 3rd finger, then make
him walk up the candlestick until he’s as high as you can stretch. Blow up high
then let him run all the way to the bottom. You can lift little babies up, blow
in their hair, then come all the way down again)

Little Ducky Duddle went wading in a puddle,
Went wading in a puddle quite small.
Said he, “It doesn’t matter how much I splash and splatter.
I’m only a ducky after all.
Quack, quack!”
(Arms down at your side with your hands turned up and
waggle from side to side.
Splash in your pretend puddle, then use your hands to
make a quacking action)
Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
Rock, rock, rock your boat gently down the stream,
If you see a crocodile,
Don’t forget to scream - Aahh!
(Face each other sitting
with legs outstretched, holding hands and rocking backwards and forwards. Next verse rock from
side to side and give a little scream at the end. Or sit on a lap both facing
forwards)
Come now lay your sleepy head
Come
now lay your sleepy head, down upon your cosy bed.
Close
your eyes and do not peep,
It’s
now time to go to sleep.
Wake
up you sleepy head, get up, get out of bed.
Wake
up you sleepy head, get up, get out of bed.

You give it a little shake and shake and shake and shake.
….left hand
(Actions as suggested. You could also go round in a
circle then stand still, facing into the circle, to put each foot forward in
turn and give it a little shake. Then jump your ‘whole self’ in-.or lift your child up and into the circle- then out
again)

Bubbles blowing in the air,
Bubbles blowing every where.

Ladybird, ladybird, sit on my finger.
Oh, how many spots can I see?
Ladybird, ladybird, sit on my finger.
I wonder; is it one, two or three?
(Hold up your index finger
and talk to the pretend ladybird sitting on it, then pretend to count how many
spots there are…maybe you can count even more than three!)
A little frog lived in a
hole
A little frog lived in a hole.
Softly, softly, when all was quiet….

last line)
Round and round the garden like a teddybear,
One step, two step and tickle you under there.
Walking down the hallway, climbing up the stairs,
One step, two step and tickle you under there.
(Make a circle shape with
your finger on your child’s hand then hop up their arm on the words ‘one’ and
‘two’, then tickle under their arm –if they’re in a tickly mood J
Walk your fingers down
their chest, then up again and tickle under the chin)

alive.
1,2,3,4,5, once I caught a fish alive.
6,7,8,9,10, then I let him go again.
Why did you let him go?
Because he bit my finger so.
Which finger did he bite?
This little finger on my right!
(Count 5 fingers on one
hand then pretend to catch a fish. Count the fingers on the other hand then
pretend to let the fish go. Lift hands palm up to ask why, then look sad…or rub
your eyes and pretend to cry. Palms up to ask again, then hold up your little
finger. Maybe give it a ‘kiss better’)
Horsey, horsey, don’t you stop.
Just let your feet go clippety clop,
Your tail go swish and your wheels go round.
Giddy up, we’re homeward bound.
(Bounce on laps)
Here are the beehives
Here are the beehives
But where are the bees?
Hiding away where nobody sees.
Will they come buzzing out of their hives?

fists in front of you, lift them to the sides to ask ‘where’, put your fists up to your eyes
for ‘hiding away’, hold them up to the side again for ‘will they come buzzing’

Worms are wiggly
Worms are wiggly, worms are wiggly,
Underneath the ground.
Now they’re coming, now they’re coming

outwards may be easier)
Can you make a funny sound ………?
Can you tap upon the ground …………?
Can you wiggle your ears like this……?
And give someone a little kiss! ……
(As the song says!)

Incey wincey spider climbed up the water spout,
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Out came the sunshine and dried up all the rain,
So Incey wincey spider climbed up the spout again.
(Make a spider shape with
your hands and make it crawl up high, make raindrops by wiggling your fingers
and swish your hands forward to wash the spider out, make a big sunshine circle with your arms,
then let the spider climb up again)
Big eyed owl
There’s a big eyed owl with two pointy ears,
A long pointy nose and claws for his toes.
He lives way up high in the trees
And when he looks at me
He flaps his wings and says
“Toowit-ta-woo.” (x3)
(Make circles over your eyes with your fingers, then
make pointy ears with your index fingers. Use your index finger for a pointy
nose and then make your hands look like claws in front of you. Point up high, then make owl eyes again, flap
your hands out at the side like wings and then make owl sounds)

hand to stroke the other arm)
